SOOOOO this is the year. The year I turn 40! I want to plan an epic party to celebrate. I want to share the party planning journey with all of you - so come along!!!! Every month I am going to update you with another aspect of the party planning. I hope you read some tips, tricks and ideas that you can use when planning your own party. So here we are at the beginning. Theme and venue is what I have been deciding on lately. THEMEThere are so many themes to choose from. Since my birthday is in December I have considered a winter wonderland themed party with Christmas trees, lights, fake snow, hot chocolate etc. I have also thought about doing a Great Gatsby (love the book and the movie) theme equipped with flappers, feathers and black and gold everything. A masquerade party would be amazing as well complete with dig dresses and masks! Click on pic below and check out some great ideas on how to throw a party with these themes! VenuesChoosing a venue for me has come down to number of people, budget and dates available. I like to ask about what the venue offers. I found one that includes catering options, table, chairs, linens, lighting options and a DJ. The more included in a venue the less work and fewer pieces to keep track of when planning a party. Coming soon...Hopefully by next month I will have locked down a theme and started working on narrowing down the venue so I can put down a deposit. February - Road to 40 Planning - Invitations

This week we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday!! With times being so different we couldn't celebrate the big 4-0 the way we wanted to but we did what we could to make him feel special. My husband along with many other things such as a financial analysts, investor and real estate agent is a wood worker and has his workshop set up in the garage. I thought that would be the perfect place for a small family get together. I decided to go with black and gold for the colors. We used white table cloths to keep the space bright and to use as wall draping to cover the garage stuff. This was the hard part. Stringing up the table cloths were definitely a trial and error experiment. We also strung up globe lights to add to the decor. Table DecorationThe table decorations were my favorite. We used black table cloths with gold table cloths as runners. Black lanterns with tea lights accompanied with pictures of the birthday honoree as a baby. I loved how the tables turned out and my husband, his mom and siblings loved seeing his old baby pictures. 40 Reasons why! This was one of my husbands favorite surprises. I contacted a bunch of close friends and family and asked them a reason why they loved, respected and admired my husband. I wrote each of their reasons on a tag and made this display board to present to him at his party. He loved reading all of the reasons he is loved. Photo areaThis photo area came together from just not wanting to cover anymore of the garage with the white table cloths. I was so tired and the wind was stressing me out with the other white table cloths I was done. So I grabbed some streamers, stars and a bench that my husband had previously made and BOOM! The photo area was born! Here are some other pictures from the party! Jaylah made some yummy chocolate cupcakes and we played some who knows the birthday honoree the best! We had so much fun! I had a ball (as I always do) planning and decorating for his party! He had an amazing time. I hope you enjoyed checking out what I came up with!! Until next time!!
So here we are! Week 12 at home. We've had some ups and downs but we are hanging in there. The highlights have definitely been getting creative and celebrating the kiddos birthdays. My oldest turned 14 in April and my youngest 7 earlier this month. Jaylah is a simple kiddo. All she wanted to do was see her friends and family for her birthday. After a day of school work we went on our daily walk and took some pictures. She had no idea what was in store. Her best friend came to decorate the yard and we added some other signage to make it extra special. We came outside to take pictures with the signs and that's when the parade began! Friends and family came from all over the city to wish her a happy birthday. They made signs and had cards and gifts for her. It was definitely very special and there wasn't a dry eye in sight! Her night was made with an Oreo ice cream cake her brother and I made. Jaxson is Turning 7My little's guy birthday fell on a weekend so we have to get more creative on how to celebrate his day - all day. I found a pin on pinterest of a little boy standing next to a giant to do list for his birthday and I thought that was perfect. The one thing Jaxson had asked for was a sleepover. I couldn't give him the sleepover he wanted but the sports themed camp out seemed to do the trick. He couldn't stop smiling so I think I nailed it! The day of his birthday we spent the day going through his to do birthday list. His special birthday surprise was a birthday video from all of his friends, family and teachers from school wishing him a happy birthday. I sent the videos from friends and family to my very talented brother-in-law (Another Day At the Office Solutions Group ) and he compiled them into an amazing video for Jaxson to watch. Here are some more Quarantine Birthday Activities:
1.Scavenger Hunts- indoor or outdoor 2. Camping In (build a fort and have a ball) 3. Virtual birthday party- dance party, play I soy, scavenger hunt, virtual games 3. Bake a cake or cupcakes 4. Birthday Parade 5. Summer Birthday- water balloon fight, sprinkler or pool fun 6. Movie Night 7. Drop off goodie bags, party hats and horns to friends 8. Sidewalk Chalk fun-let everyone know it's their birthday 9. Special video messages to the birthday boy or girl 10. Make it a "YES" day- say yes to everything you possibly can (within reason of course) Working with a couple to plan their wedding has been full of research and phone calls so today it was nice to be able to do something different. I love when I can do something crafty for an event or party I am planning. The bride wanted to ask her friends to be apart of her special day in a special way. Once we found a picture of these she knew that was it. Here's all you need to make these sweet gifts: Wine glasses - Dollar Tree has some that are perfect Rose Gold (or color of your choice) adhesive vinyl Contact paper-dollar store Treat or gift boxes- I got my treat boxes from Walmart Decorative shreds- color of your choice - dollar tree Cricut materials- I used my Cricut Maker but any of the machines will work, weeder, scraper, scissors and mats 1. Design Space- With the font of your choice design your image 2. Cut out design using Cricut machine 3. Weed image out of vinyl 4. Place contact paper over the image and separate image from backing 5. Carefully, place image (now on contact paper) on the glass and/or box. Start in the middle and smooth outward 6. Assemble box and glass What sweet gifts right?
What are some fun ways you asked or have heard of people asking their bridal party to be apart of their special day? This past weekend I had the honor of setting up a surprise proposal for a sweet couple. I was so excited for them to see what I had come up with. I asked him if he wanted to see the set up ahead of time or be surprised and he opted to be surprised with her. I was told her favorite colors which are lilac and gold and he wanted sweet and simple. With that I came up with this: Shout out to my husband for making the amazing bench! More to come from him soon!! Congrats to the happy couple. Thank you for letting Creative Celebrations be a part of your special moment. When planning your next party at home or a venue consider Creative Celebrations to help you with all of your celebration needs!
Tanya Burton-314-488-6891 Now that I am in between shirt orders and parties I found some time to update you on all the projects I have been working on. Having been blessed with a Cricut Maker now in addition to the Cricut Explore Air 2 has made completing projects even easier. Here are some fun projects I've done recently. Last Day of schoolRemember the feeling of the end of the school year and you could feel summer around the corner? There's just no excitement like the end of the school year excitement!!!! I work with some amazing ladies. So amazing Bitmoji shirts were definitely in order! These ladies each definitely TEACH LIKE A BOSS! Mother's DayI loved making these shirts for the mamas in my life. I hope it made their day extra special. Love is in the airA sweet friend recently got engaged and as a fellow Disney fan I was over the moon to be able to make these for her. I also made some similar shirts and a sign for another couple getting engaged very soon!!! Teacher appreciationI love teacher appreciation week. What better time to stop and take a moment to appreciate all the teachers that do so much for our students everyday. They definitely need more than a week for all they do. This year I was able to make some really fun gifts that my kid's teachers loved. Summer VibesFamily vacations are the best. A friend who was getting her whole family together wanted to surprise her fam with cups for their vacation. I think they turned out wonderful. I love how bright and colorful they are. Can't forget my Summer Vibes Tee!!!! Who's ready for summer? I have had so much fun creating and making these projects. Each one was special. I can't wait to see what's next for me in the world of crafting!!!!
I can't believe my baby is six-years old! He is a great little guy! When we were planning his party he asked for 2 things. 1)Football decorations and 2) Pizza! This guy LOVES pizza. It was just a family affair so small and fun for the kids is what we were going for. Jaxson helped pick out the decorations he wanted on the table. Party City had different football decorations to choose from. We also had the fun idea of having family sign a football that he can keep in his room. The "football field" was the best idea. It was so much fun to watch him and his cousins knock down the football cups! Jaxson's party was simple but fun! He had his football and his pizza just like he asked for!
When planning your next party at home or at a party venue consider Creative Celebrations to help make your event a "Creative Celebration"!!!! Tanya Burton-314-488-6891 My oldest baby turned 13 in April and I am so behind in sharing what we did to celebrate. 13 is a big deal in my family. Well, all birthdays are important but you only become a teenager once! I still can't believe that I have an official teenager in my house!! She is an amazing young lady and I was proud to be able to put on a great party for her. Table DecorationsThe decorations were all rose gold and white. My husband made a large wooden 13 that we put lights in to decorate the space. The table decorations were beautiful. We used rose gold glitter table runners and white lanterns with tea light candles to light up the table. Party City had really nice rose gold tableware that worked perfectly with the decor of the room. I wanted to go with linen table cloths but we were having a nacho/taco bar and I decided plastic was a more economical choice. Party FavorsSince making things with my Cricut machine is my new obsession I thought shirts would a cute addition to the party favors. So Birthday Squad shirts for all! Also as a favor to go along with their shirts are white sunglasses with their names in vinyl on them! Lastly, there were cups with their names on them filled with fun goodies every preteen/teen would love. More Party FunHuge shout out to Crave the Cake (Facebook-@cravethecake1) for the delicious cookies and creme cupcakes! Go check her out! This party was a huge success. We took the girls to a local place to rock climb, play laser tag, mini golf and more. The girls had a blast.
When planning your next party at home or at a party venue consider Creative Celebrations to help make your event a "Creative Celebration"!!!! Tanya Burton-314-488-6891 It's been awhile since I've posted but boy have I been busy. Recently, I was talking to my sister (Check her out at https://powerofwordsbooks.weebly.com/) about how I hadn't posted in awhile because I have been so busy with craft projects for people not parties. To make a long story short she reminded me that Creative Celebrations is more than just party planning and decorating. It's about creating an atmosphere of celebration. Celebrating who you are in many different ways is what we are all about. My newest crafting adventure has been designing t-shirts for those celebrating different avenues and journeys of life. Here is just some of the projects that I have worked on. Celebration of CultureCelebration of FamilyCelebration of LoveCelebration of MilestonesHow do you celebrate special occasions? Leave me a comment. I'd love to add some new celebrations to my list!
Check back soon to see part 2 of the Celebrating Creatively post! Happy Celebrating! My sweet sister-in-law turned 35 and you know what that means PAR-TAY!! She asked me to decorate a photo wall for her. Clearly I couldn't just do the wall-anyone that knows me knows that's just crazy talk. Her colors were purple, black and silver. I wanted to keep it simple but still fun. Here are a few pics from her party! Photo wall, table decorations and her shirt done by yours truly. Happy Birthday Maiya! Hope you had a great time!!!
