One of the fun activities to do during Easter is to dye eggs. There are kits with stickers, paints and dyes at every store you enter. I'll never forget dying eggs when I was little. The smell of vinegar and eggs always bring back fond Easter memories. With my own kids we have used stickers when they were little and even done the eggs that you can decorate with chalk. As they are now older I went seeking an idea fresh and fun for them. Here is what I came up with. Kool-Aid Dyed Eggs Materials: Bowls- as many bowls as you want colors Kool-aid packets Hard Boiled Eggs Directions: Fill your bowls with about 3/4 a cup of water, pour in a packet of Kool-Aid and drop your eggs into the bowl. Leave them there for about a minute, and then pull them out to dry. Cool Whip Dyed Eggs Materials: Cool whip Hard Boiled Eggs Neon Food Dye Directions: Spread your cool whip out about an inch thick onto a baking sheet or platter. Drop dots of the food coloring all over the cool whip and use a spoon to gently swirl the color. Do not mix the color too much. Coat the eggs in the mixture and place them in the fridge for 30 minutes.Rinse and dry them off, and they are done! Glow In The Dark Eggs Materials: Hard Boiled Eggs Glow in the dark paint Vinegar Water Directions: In a bowl add a drop of the glowing paint of your choice. Then add roughly the same amount of very warm water and stir until the paint is dissolved. Add vinegar (roughly 1/4 cups) and mix well. That's it! Tie Dyed Easter Eggs Materials: Hard-boiled eggs Food coloring Vinegar Water Spray bottle Paper towels Glass baking dish Vinyl, rubber or latex gloves Rubber bands Directions: Found at ehow.com DIY Nail Polish Marbled Eggs Eggs Nail polish in all kinds of fun shades. A plastic cup or bowl filled with room temperature water Toothpicks. Nail polish remover (to get the polish off your fingers when you’re done). Tutorial found at HelloGlow. For an egg dying/decorating party I would set up stations for kiddos to rotate to. Each table would have a place for kids to work, an adult to help or answer questions as well as all of the materials on hand. Snacks and music would set the dying mood and everyone would have a blast. Can't wait to plan this party!!!
