I have many more fun and unique ideas for my 80’s theme birthday mystery party.
Keep checking back for more tips and ideas!!!!!
Big hair, great music and the best movies of all time!!! I have to be talking about the 80’s!
This year for my birthday I am planning an 80’s themed MURDER MYSTERY PARTY. I have never thrown a Murder Mystery Party before. The great thing about getting a murder mystery kit is that it comes with EVERYTHING from invitations to ideas for decorations. I wanted to give guest time to get their character outfits so sending a save the date card (seen above) seemed the smartest idea. The card gives guest date, time and place information as well as a small snippet of info about their character so they can start prepping for their role. My family is pretty hilarious. I can't wait to see everyone dressed up and putting their acting skills to use!
You can't have an 80's themed party without a rubix cube. My daughter started working on a rubix cube around the same time I was planning decorations for the party. I thought about making large rubix cubes for decorations. Guests could use them as tables to set drink and plates on if they wanted.
Medium size boxes from Lowes or Home Depot
Colorful paper from Michaels
One is made with black duct tape and one is covered with black paper and the colorful rectangles are taped on top.
DIY Record Bowls
These will be great for popcorn, pretzels or another fun party snack. They were easy to make.
Materials: records from local antique store or thrift store
In the décor section you will find other wreaths I have made. I made this wreath to hang on the outside of the door for my party!
Other fun additions to the night will be this Mtv sign and this I love 80’s photo prop. With this funky 80’s graffiti backdrop and some dope shades your party pictures will be totally awesome!
Instead of cake or cupcakes I am going to have donuts of all flavors and fillings for the birthday dessert. I saw these DIY cake stands and knew that I had to try them. I hot glued cassette tapes and a painted 35 on top of one of the cake stands as a cake topper.
