The New Year is right around the corner and after all of the Christmas plans and parties the last thing you may want to do is plan and host another party. Well, the New Years is a great time to have a get together but not have to plan anything over the top (unless you really want to!). I have dedicated this post to the low-key New Years Eve Party! The FoodThis year we decided on a Taco/Nacho Bar. Dessert will be easy too. Check back in to the J.B.'s Sweet Treats section to see what Jaylah has whipped up! You will need some ground beef and chicken if you want options, soft and hard shells. We also like the taco bowls. You'll also need the toppings: Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green onions, sour cream Nacho chips, salsa and cheese Here are some ideas on how to display and setup your Taco/Nacho Bar The GamesYou can't have a get together without some fun and games. Since this is a low-key planing event I am thinking that every family that will come to celebrate will bring a game that their family loves to play. We can have everything from Twister to Uno to Family Feud. I am so excited to all be together and play different games! Here some other easy prep game night ideas! Happy New YearHere are some fun ways to countdown to the New Year! How do you like to celebrate the New year? I would love for you to share some great ideas with us!
This year's birthday party was so much fun. Everyone really got into the Ugly Sweater theme! When guests arrived they were met with a photo opt area! There were photo props, Ugly Sweater pins and glasses for guests to use when taking their pictures. Food was easy this year. I decided to go with finger foods for easy and quick. The menu consists of: sub sandwich, chicken wings (drummies), toasted ravioli, chips, cheese and crackers and a fruit tray. We also had a Hot Chocolate Station and decorate your own Ugly Sweater Cookie Station. Once most people were finished eating I started passing out materials for the first game! This game was a drawing game. Materials: Paper plates, pens and directions found at Happyhomefairy.com Guests place paper plates on their heads (so they can't see what they are drawing) and listen to directions as they are being read. They try to draw the picture while the plate is still on their head. Each set of directions equals so many points. Once the drawing is finished guest tally up their points and the person with the most points wins a cool prize. Game 2 was one that most people had played before. It was the Right Left game. The guests sat in a circle and I handed wrapped gifts to a few of them. I read a story and every time I said right the gifts would go to the right and every time I said left they would go to the left. When the story was over whoever was left holding the gifts got to keep them! There are a ton of versions of these stories that you can find online. The next game we played was played on our phones. Kahoot.com is a game that I use a lot at school and thought it would be a hit at the party. Boy was I right!!! This game is a fast paced quiz game where you have to be the fastest and most accurate to win. The last game was the best! Everyone split into groups of at least 3 people. Their job was using the supplies given, wrap one of their teammates into the best looking gift. They could be as creative as they wanted with the supplies given. Supplies: wrapping paper, tape, scissors, pipe cleaners, ribbon and bows. Time: 10 minutes We had a great time!! A huge shout out to my brother-in-law for taking pictures and capturing all things ugly sweater for me! Check him out at Another Day At The Office Productions on Facebook!
With Thanksgiving being tomorrow you may be totally consumed with the menu, decor and space. Have you stopped to think about the kiddos? Will they have enough to do? What will they do? How will we keep them entertained? Here are some ideas to make their Thanksgiving memorable. Enjoy the season as your Pumpkins discover the hidden fun of pie! For more exciting reading activities, go to Education.com. We just had the best sleepover! I often have these parties for my daughter and nieces! This one was gonna be epic though. I decided on a camping theme. I don't do camping so glamping sounded better. Indoors with all the luxuries of indoor living! The girls always know when they come over we do some type of activity, eat some yummy food and the next morning have a great breakfast and another activity. Here's what went down! We went to the St. Peter's Rec Plex for some exercise! We played basketball and went swimming! We closed the place down!!! They were super hungry as you can imagine! Pizza and chips in the tents it is!!! The girls finished the night with food and TV. They drifted off to sleep pretty early! Saturday after breakfast was our Selfie Scavenger Hunt! I have done lots of scavenger hunts with the girls in the past and they love them. Now that they are older and ALL have phones I thought this was a great idea. I took the idea from a post I saw on Pinterest. I did modify ours to fit the girls and the fact that it was raining and cold when we got up. It was pretty hysterical to see them running around the house with their phones taking pictures. The girls had a great time at the sleepover. It's all about making memories!
With Halloween over it seems the thing to do is to jump right into Christmas planning. When you go out you hear Christmas music, see decorations being sold everywhere and even lights making their way onto people's houses. It's easy to get sucked in and start making lists, shopping for decorations and planning your parties. My sister-in-law hates that Thanksgiving seems to get skipped right over. Well, Kim this one is for you!!! Your Thanksgiving gathering doesn't have to be the same get together it's been always been. Here are some ways to make it extra special and have a little fun!!! Thanksgiving DecorationsDon't forget to capture all of the Thanksgiving fun with this simple and festive photo booth! Thanksgiving Activities |
